तीसरा अध्याय।

समुद्र मंथन (Samudra Manthan) ,कूर्म ,तथा मोहिनीअवतार की कथा।

अग्नि देव कहते है। वशिष्ट ? अब में कूर्म अवतार का वर्णन करूँगा। यह सुनने पर  सब पापो का नाश हो जाता है। पूर्वकाल की बात है। देव असुर संग्राम में , दैत्यों ने देवताओ को परास्त कर दिया। वे दुर्वासा के श्राप से लक्ष्मी से रहित हो गए थे।

तब सम्पूर्ण देवता क्षिरसागर में  शयन करने वाले भगवन विष्णु के पास जाकर बोले – भगवन ! आप देवताओ की रक्षा कीजिये। यह सुनकर श्री हरी ने ब्रह्मा आदि देवताओ से कहा – देवगण ! तुम लोग क्षीरसमुद्र को मथने ,अमृत प्राप्त करने ,और लक्षमि को पाने के लिए असुरो से संधि कर लो।

कोई बड़ा काम और भारी प्रयोजन आ पड़ने पर शत्रुओ से भी संधि कर लेनी चाहिए। में तुम लोगो को अमृत का भागी बनाऊंगा। और दैत्योंको उनसे वंचित रखूँगा। मंदराचल को मथानी और वासुकि नाग को नेति बनाकर आलस्यरहित हो मेरी सहायता से तुम लोग क्षीरसागरका  मंथन करो।

भगवन विष्णु के ऐसा कहने पर  देवता ,दैत्यों के साथ संधि करके क्षीरसमुद्र पर आये। फिर तो उन्होंने एक साथ मिलकर समुद्र मंथन (samudra manthan) का आरम्भ किया। जिस और वासुकि नाग की पूंछ थी। उसी और देवता खड़े थे। दानव वासुकि नाग के निःश्वाससे क्षीण हो रहे थे। और देवताओ को भगवन अपनी कृपा दृस्टि से परिपुष्ट कर रहे थे। समुद्र मंथन आरम्भ होने पर कोई आधार न मिलने से मंदराचल पर्वत समुद्र में दुब गया।

तब भगवन विष्णु ने कूर्म (कछुए) का रूप धारण करके मंदराचल को अपनी पीठ पर  रख लीया। जब समुद्र मथा जाने लगा। तो उसके भीतर से हलाहल विष प्रगट हुवा। उसे भगवन शंकर ने अपने कंठ में धारण कर लिया। उससे कंठ में काला दाग पडजाने के कारन वे नीलकंठ नामसे प्रसिद्द हुवे।

तत्पश्चात समुद्र से वारुनिदेवी ,पारिजात वृक्ष , कौस्तुभ मणि ,गौए तथा दिव्य अप्सराए प्रगट हुई। फिर लक्ष्मीदेवी का प्रादुर्भाव हुवा। वे भगवन विष्णु को प्राप्त हुई। सम्पूर्ण देवताओ ने उनका दर्शन और स्तवन किया। इससे वे लक्ष्मीवान हो गए।

तदन्तर भगवन विष्णु के अंश रूप धन्वन्तरि , जो आयुर्वेद के प्रवर्तक है ,हाथ में अमृत से भरा हुवा कलश लेके प्रगट हुवे। दैत्यों ने उनके हाथ से कलश छीन लिया। और उनमेसे आधा देवताओ को देकर चलते बने। उनमे जम्भ आदि दैत्य प्रधान थे।

उन्हें जाते देख भगवन विष्णु ने स्री का रूप धारण किया। उस रूपवती स्री को देख दैत्य मोहित हो उठे। और बोले – सुमुखि ! तुम हमारी भार्या हो जाओ और ये अमृत लेकर हमे  पिलाओ। बहुत अच्छा कहकर भगवन ने उनके हाथ से अमृत ले लिया और उसे देवताओ को पीला दिया। उस समय राहु ,चन्द्रमाका रूप धारण करके अमृत पिने लगा। तब सूर्य ,चंद्रमा ने उसके कपट वेश को प्रगट कर दिया।

यह देख भगवन श्रीहरिने चक्र से उसका मस्तक काट दिया। उसका सिर अलग हो गया और भुजाओसहित धड़ अलग रह गया। फिर भगवन को दया आई और उन्होंने राहु को अमर बना दिया। तब ग्रहस्वरूप राहु ने भगवन श्रीहरि से कहा – इन सूर्य और चंद्र को मेरे द्वारा अनेको बार ग्रहण लगेगा।

उस समय संसार के लोग जो कुछ दान करे ,वो सब अक्षय हो। भगवन विष्णु ने तथास्तु कहकर संपूर्ण देवताओ के साथ राहु की बात का अनुमोदन किया। इसके बाद भगवानने स्री रूप त्याग दिया। किन्तु महादेवजी को भगवन के उस स्री रूप का फिर से दर्शन करने की इच्छा हुई।

अतः उन्होंने अनुरोध किया – भगवन ! आप उस स्री रूप का दर्शन करावे। महादेवजी की प्राथना से भगवन ने उनका स्री रूप का दर्शन कराया। वे भगवन की माया से ऐसे मोहित हो गए की पार्वतीजी का त्याग कर उस स्री के पीछे लग गए। उन्होंने नग्न और उन्मत होकर मोहिनी के केश पकड़ लिए।

मोहिनी अपने केशो को छुड़ाकर वहासे चलदी। उसे जाती देख महादेवजी भी उसके पीछे दौड़ने लगे। उस समय पृथ्वी पर जहा जहा भगवन शिव का वीर्य गिरा, वहा वहा शिवलिंगो का क्षेत्र, एवं, सुवर्ण की खाने हो गई। तत्पश्चात : यह माया हे।

यह जानकर भगवन शंकर अपने स्वरुप में स्थित हुवे। तब भगवन श्रीहरि ने प्रगटहोकर शिवजी से कहा – रूद्र ! तुमने मेरी मायाको जित लिया। पृथ्वी पर तुम्हारे सीवा ऐसा कोई पुरुष नहीं है , जो मेरी इस माया को जित सके। भगवन के प्रयत्न से दैत्यों को अमृत नहीं मिल पाया।

अतः देवताओ ने उन्हें युद्ध में मार गिराया। फिर देवता स्वर्ग में बिराजमान हुवे। और दैत्यलोग पाताल में रहने लगे।

जो मनुष्य देवताओ की इस विजयगाथा का पाठ करता है। वह स्वर्गलोक में जाता है।

इस प्रकार विद्याओ के सारभूत आदि आग्नेय महापुराण में कूर्मावतार वर्णन नामक तीसरा अध्याय पूरा हुवा।

It is a matter of the past. In the Deva Asura War, the demons defeated the gods. He became devoid of Lakshmi by the curse of Durvasa.

Then the whole deity went to Lord Vishnu sleeping in Kshirasagar and said – God! You protect the gods.

Hearing this, Mr. Hari said to the deities of Brahma – Gods! You must make a treaty with the Asuras to churn the Kshirasamudra, get the nectar, and get the Lakshmi.

In case of any big task and heavy purpose, enemies should also be negotiated. I will make you people a part of the nectar. And I will keep the demons away from them.

Make me idle by making Mandrachal the churner and Vasuki Nag the leader, with my help you churn the Kshirsagarka. On the saying of Bhagavan Vishnu, the deity came to Kshirasamudra in a treaty with the demons.

Then together they started the ocean churning. Jis and Vasuki Nag had a tail. The same deity stood there. The demons were eroding at Vasuki Nag’s selflessness.

And God was satisfying the gods with his grace. When the sea churning started, Mandarachal mountain got submerged in the sea due to no support.

Then Lord Vishnu took the form of a kurma (turtle) and placed Mandarachal on his back. When the sea began to churn. So the poison of poison came out from within. Bhagwan Shankar took him in his throat.

Due to black spots in him, he became famous as Neelkanth. Thereafter, Varunidevi, Parijat tree, Kaustubh Mani, Gauye, and Divine Apsara appeared from the sea. Then Laxmidevi was born. She came to Lord Vishnu.

The entire deities saw him and offered prayers. With this he became Lakshmivan. Subsequently, Dhanvantari, a part of Bhagwan Vishnu, who is the originator of Ayurveda, appeared in his hand carrying an urn full of nectar.

The demons snatched the urn from his hand. And gave half of them to the gods and kept walking. In them, the primal monster was the prince. Lord Vishnu took the form of a woman when she saw him going.

The demons were fascinated after seeing that beautiful woman. And said – Sumukhi! You become our Indian and drink this nectar with us. Saying very well, Bhagavan took the nectar from his hand and gave it yellow to the gods.

At that time Rahu took the form of the moon and started drinking nectar. Then the Sun and the Moon revealed its hypocrisy.

Seeing this God cut his head from Shriharine Chakra. His head was severed and his torso was left apart. Then Bhagavan took pity and made Rahu immortal.

Then Rahu in the form of planet said to Bhagavan Srihari – This sun and moon will be eclipsed by me many times. At that time, whatever the people of the world donate, they should be renewable.

Bhagavan Vishnu, while saying Aastastu, approved Rahu’s talk with the entire deities. After this, God gave up the form of a woman. But Mahadevji wished to see that woman’s form again. So he requested – God! You can see that woman form.

On Mahadevji’s prayer, Bhagavan saw him as a woman. He was so fascinated with the Maya of God that he abandoned Parvati and followed him. He held Mohini’s hairstyle naked and unscathed. Mohini got thereby releasing her hair.

Mahadev Ji started running after him as he saw her leaving. At that time, where the semen of Lord Shiva fell on the earth, the area of ​​Shivalinga there, and, Suvarna was eaten. After that, this is Maya. Knowing this Bhagwan Shankar is situated in his form.

Then Bhagavan Srihari revealingly said to Shiva – Rudra! You won my magic There is no man on earth except you who can win this illusion of mine. By the efforts of God, the demons could not get nectar. Hence the gods killed them in battle.

Then the god sits in heaven. And the demons started living in Hades.

The person who recites this triumph of gods. He goes to heaven.

In this way, the third chapter called Kurmavatar narration has been completed in the Adi Agneya Maha Purana of learning.
